Sheridan lauds Spireites success

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan was left to reflect on a successful season after his side were held to a goalless draw at Oxford. The Spireites secured promotion on Friday without kicking a ball and Sheridan was delighted to see his players rewarded for their efforts. "To finally secure promotion, with Friday's result going our way, was very pleasing," he said. "We're pleased for the fans, and the club, which is moving forward, but I'm pleased most for the players. They are the ones I want to pat on the back. "There's been 18 or 19 fantastic players. And that's the biggest thing for me this season - our strength in depth - because players have come in and done well and we've picked up results all along the way. "Luckily for us, once or twice when we've had a bad result, others haven't got positive results to catch us up."
