Sheridan said: "Scott changed the game. He gave us a little spark and everyone got a lift from him. He certainly livened it up for us and is one of those players that I know can score a goal.
"I'm pleased for him and it will give him a big lift. I knew that it was going to be a very tough game. They are a strong outfit and the two wingers are always a threat.
"They will be up there at the end of the season. I just had a feeling that it would be one of those where we would have to grind it out and the most important thing is that we've won the game.
"I'm very pleased with the way we went about it, especially in the first half."
