Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson felt his side deserved a point after losing 2-1 to Peterborough United on Wednesday evening.
Posh went 2-0 up courtesy of Aaron McLean and George Boyd, before Jack Lester pulled a goal back three minutes from time and Peter Leven missed a last-gasp penalty.
"In the first half it was a tight game and neither keeper had anything to do," said Richardson.
"Unfortunately we have made a mistake a minute before the break which cost us a goal and their second had a bit of quality.
"But after that the players showed a lot of character. In the last half an hour we were well on top and we would have got a point apart from us missing a late penalty."
