Richardson hails vital victory

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson dedicated Wednesday's 5-1 rout of Aldershot to the club's supportive hierarchy.

Jamie Ward struck a hat-trick as the Spireites secured a first win in seven games to ease the pressure on under-fire manager Richardson.

Disgruntled supporters have called for Richardson's head in recent weeks following their dismal run of results.

"Jamie Ward will get the plaudits but it was a good team performance from the goalkeeper right through to the three substitutes," said the relieved manager.

"We had a little bit of luck at times which we've not had all season but everyone worked their socks off and we got our reward.

"I am pleased for the chairman and the board because they are the ones who feel it more than anyone when people don't come through the turnstiles.

"We have given ourselves a good win and now we have to build on it."
