Chesterfield midfielder Derek Niven has pledged his immediate future to the League Two club by signing a new one-year contract.
The 24-year-old has made just over 200 appearances for the Spireites to date, having moved to Saltergate in December 2003 from Bolton Wanderers.
Niven told the club's official website: "I am looking forward to having another stab at getting promotion next season and think that Lee Richardson is a good manager who will lead us to success."
The Scotsman had been linked with a move away from Chesterfield this summer, with Brighton and Hove Albion rumoured to be showing an interest.
