Niven doubtful for Spireites

Derek Niven is a doubt for Chesterfield ahead of the trip to Crewe. The midfielder required five stitches in a head wound against Northampton on Tuesday night and had to be replaced by Kieran Djilali. Boss John Sheridan has options should Niven be unavailable. Crystal Palace youngster Djilali could keep his place, although Dwayne Mattis is back in contention for a start after coming on for the final few moments against the Cobblers following a calf injury. Dean Morgan was left out in midweek after two games in quick succession following two months out with an ankle injury and he could also come back into the reckoning, with veteran striker Jack Lester likely to be given his customary away match rest. The two sides contested an incredible match in the reverse fixture at the b2net Stadium in October as Chesterfield fought back from a 4-1 half-time deficit to draw 5-5.
