Chesterfield`s b2net Stadium has won the race to be part of six grounds selected to host the Under-21 European Championship in 2013 should England be successful with its bid. The honour is a big achievement for the Derbyshire club who have made the list along with four other stadium from the midlands area - the City Ground (Nottingham Forest), Pride Park (Derby), Meadow Lane (Notts County) and the Greenhous Meadow (Shrewsbury) - while Wembley has also been selected to host the final. The Football Association are this week showing UEFA delegates around the four midlands locations, as well as Birmingham, as they conduct a technical inspection which will form the basis on a report on the quality of infrastructure, stadia, transport and hotels. Chesterfield only moved into their new 10,379 capacity stadium this summer following 126 years at Saltergate. England are bidding to host the tournament for the first time and will compete with Bulgaria, Israel and the Czech Republic for the right to do so. A decision will be made by UEFA in December.
