Montrose agrees Spireites deal
28 Apr 2009 - 12:43:39
Loan midfielder Lewis Montrose has agreed a deal to join Chesterfield on a permanent basis from Wigan athletic in the summer.
The 20-year-old will pen a two-year contract at Saltergate, having enjoyed his time with the League Two club.
He told the Sheffield Star: "I am delighted to be joining Chesterfield on a long-term basis as I have really enjoyed being with the club on loan.
"Everyone has made me so welcome and I am looking forward to progressing my career with the Spireites."
Meanwhile, Spireites boss Lee Richardson has admitted that his side have not done enough in recent weeks to deserve a play-off place.
He said after the 1-0 loss at Accrington Stanley: "It is very disappointing.
"It feels like we have gone out with a whimper in this game, but, I think in fairness, in the last five or six games we have probably given ourselves too much to do."
