Madine joins Spireites

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan has made a move in the transfer market by completing the temporary loan switch of Carlisle United striker Gary Madine.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a three-month spell at Championship outfit Coventry City earlier in the season.

He has made over 40 appearances and scored four goals for the Cumbrians since making his debut against Nottingham Forest in March 2008.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott believes the move is in the best interest of all concerned, saying: "It will help Chesterfield and it gets Gary some valuable pitch time.

"He came back from Coventry in a determined mood and this will help to make sure that he's playing competitive football regularly rather than waiting for reserve games to get the full 90 minutes that he needs at the moment."
