Lester out for six weeks

Chesterfield`s League Two promotion hopes have been dealt a blow with the news that leading scorer Jack Lester requires a knee operation that will keep him out for up to six weeks. The nine-goal striker has been to see a specialist and tests have uncovered a tear in part of the cartilage in his right knee. Lester has missed the Spireites` last two league matches but John Sheridan`s side have recorded back-to-back victories against Morecambe and Lincoln. He looks set to miss at least four more games. Meanwhile, Phil Picken will be out for up to three weeks after the defender suffered a knee ligament strain in training. Better news for boss Sheridan is that forward Drew Talbot has been given the all-clear to resume action following an ankle injury and he could come back into the reckoning for the visit of promotion rivals Bury at the weekend.
