Latics seek Allott return

Chesterfield captain Mark Allott is being targeted for a return to former club Oldham Athletic.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been at Saltergate since December 2001, but is wanted back by the Latics, with whom he started his career.

Spireites boss Lee Richardson told the club's official website: "I can confirm that Oldham Athletic have enquired about the possible transfer of Mark Allott.

"This enquiry is being considered seriously, but the current position is that the two clubs have a different view on the player's valuation.

"The club continue to take the view that there can be no movement out of any player unless the deal is the right one for Chesterfield FC."
