It was result that mattered - Sheridan

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan admitted the result was the only thing on his mind after watching his side get back to winning ways with a 1-0 triumph over Torquay. The Spireites lost successive home matches to Burton and Oxford last month having gone eight league games without defeat at the b2net Stadium. An FA Cup exit to the Brewers last time out only added to the weight on Sheridan`s shoulders, but he watched his side register three important points over the Gulls thanks to Jack Lester`s sixth goal of the campaign. And the Chesterfield boss said: "The most pleasing thing was getting the three points after the previous two or three results and a lot of credit goes to the players. "I thought it was a battling performance and I knew it would be a tough game against a good side who are in form and I thought we deserved to win. They were always in with a shout, but overall we have had the best opportunities and without making their keeper work we could have done better. "But all I wanted was three points, I wasn't really bothered about the performance. We've had some bad results but all credit to the players, the work ethic was there and we got our reward."
