Chesterfield have moved quickly to snap up midfielder Paul Harsley from Port Vale.
Harsley has joined the Spireites on a two-year contract after deciding against accepting a new deal at Vale Park.
The 30-year-old was voted player of the season by the relegated League One club in the recently completed campaign.
"Although I was happy at Port Vale, I liked the sound of what was happening here and decided that Chesterfield was the better option for me," he revealed.
Spireites manager Lee Richardson told the club's official website: "I'm delighted that Paul has decided to join us as he brings a wealth of valuable experience to the squad."
