Chesterfield defender Aaron Downes has signed a one-year extension to his contract with the club.
The 22-year-old Australian is now contracted to the Spireites until June 2009.
Downes told the club's official website: "Although one or two other clubs were starting to sniff around, I'm delighted to be extending my stay at Chesterfield as I just love being here.
"Rico (manager Lee Richardson) is making some great changes to the squad and I hope the fans will back us all the way to promotion next season."
Downes has made 85 appearances during his three seasons with the club.
