Downes inks new Spireites deal
Downes, 23, is out for around nine months after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in the goalless home draw against Darlington over Easter. The Australia international would have been out of contract in the summer but was offered a new deal prior to his injury. Spireites boss Lee Richardson said: "Aaron has been in great form this season and I am delighted that the club has moved quickly to reassure him that his future is with Chesterfield. "He is a fit young lad and there is every expectation that he will fully recover."
