Comeback pleases Richardson
15 Nov 2008 - 13:56:41
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson was delighted with the spirit his side showed in Friday's 2-2 draw with high-flying Shrewsbury Town.
The Spireites appeared to be slipping to their seventh defeat of the campaign when they fell two goals behind but, inspired by Darren Currie, they hit back to pick up a point.
Richardson said: "I feel it was a point gained really after being 2-0 down with 35 minutes to go.
"I think most of our supporters would have taken a point at that stage. We could have gone on to have won it but the most important thing is we didn't lose.
"Shrewsbury could have gone top if they had won and the game was very tight.
"Darren Currie's introduction was the catalyst for us to play our way into the game and we played some very good football.
"Darren is a player of real quality and some of his touches are ones for the real connoisseur and he's a player with qualities you don't find at this level."
