No new problems for Spireites

Chesterfield have no new problems as they return to League One action against Port Vale.

The Spireites came through the FA Cup tie at Scunthorpe in midweek unscathed, meaning Jimmy Ryan and Ian Evatt remain the only absentees.

Ryan went for a scan on his groin injury on Thursday and the midfielder has an outside chance of returning to the squad for the third round replay with the Iron. Central defender Evatt may also be back in contention next Tuesday from his calf complaint.

Blues boss Paul Cook will be able to include Emmanuel Dieseruvwe in his squad for the first time, following the teenage striker's arrival on loan from Sheffield Wednesday. The 19-year-old is ineligible for Chesterfield in the FA Cup.

Eighth-placed Vale have no new problems as they prepare to face the team, by virtue of a better goal difference, directly above them in the table.

Valiants boss Rob Page must decide whether to name an unchanged team for the fourth game in a row or tinker with one or two things. Chris Robertson, Chris Birchall, Chris Lines, Colin Daniel, Byron Moore and Achille Campion are options for the Welshman - a former Spireites defender.

Tom Pope remains out with a knee ligament injury but it is hoped the striker will return to first-team contention in the coming weeks.

Saturday will be 'Ernie Moss Day' at the Proact Stadium. Moss, Chesterfield's all-time record scorer with 191 goals, also played for Vale and is now suffering from Pick's Disease. There will be collection buckets for the dementia charity outside the ground and a period of applause involving both sets of supporters is planned during the game.
