Banks missing for Spireites

Ollie Banks will be absent for Chesterfield when they resume League Two action at home to Newport.

The midfielder will miss the remaining six matches of the Spireites' promotion run-in after damaging ligaments in his right foot during the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley last weekend.

Striker Armand Gnanduillet, full-back Nathan Smith and on-loan Peterborough midfielder Daniel Kearns will all come back into the reckoning after they were left out of the matchday squad at Wembley.

Kearns was ineligible against his parent club as past of the deal that took him to the Proact Stadium.

Newport will be without two suspended players.

The Exiles' 2-1 defeat to Portsmouth last Saturday saw Darcy Blake pick up two yellow cards and a one-match ban on his third start for the club while Adam Chapman will miss the next three games for a horror tackle which manager Justin Edinburgh said was 'very out of character' for the midfielder.

Their bans leave Edinburgh with some reshuffling to do and the likes of Andy Sandell and Ismail Yakubu are set to come into contention while Rene Howe and Shaun Jeffers are also pushing to start.

That loss to Pompey leaves Newport looking at a mid-table finish in their first season back in the Football League.
