Ryan leaves it late for Spireites

Jimmy Ryan scored a dramatic late equaliser as Chesterfield came from two down to draw 2-2 with play-off rivals Doncaster at the Proact Stadium.

Doncaster had gone ahead in the third minute when Coppinger got behind Chesterfield on the right and fired a shot high into the top left corner and they scored again six minutes later.

A corner to the back post found Andy Butler unmarked and he planted a downward header inside Tommy Lee's right-hand post but Chesterfield wasted a great chance in the 36th minute when Jay O'Shea shot over from point blank range.

Stephen Bywater saved brilliantly from Ian Evatt in the 41st minute but Chesterfield were back in it when Doyle pounced on a pass from Sam Morsy to score from eight yards in the 43rd minute.

Lee denied Curtis Main and Uche Ikpeazu early in the second half before Ikpeazu struck a post and Chesterfield took advantage to grab a point in the 87th minute.

Doyle headed a cross back across goal and Ryan steered the ball past Bywater from close range to complete a spirited fightback by Chesterfield.
