Millwall maintain promotion push with win at Chesterfield

Millwall kept up their promotion push with a 2-1 victory at the Proact Stadium to leave Chesterfield in relegation trouble.

Although the home side went in front through Sam Morsy, Aiden O'Brien quickly equalised and Lee Gregory hit the winner early in the second half.

The game was open from the start and Chesterfield went close in the 16th minute when Slyvan Ebanks-Blake just failed to turn in Lee Novak's low cross from the left.

Novak lobbed wide but Morsy was bang on target in the the 25th minute when he sent a right-foot shot from 25 yards flashing into the bottom-left corner.

Millwall responded two minutes later when O'Brien was left unmarked eight yards out to head in Shane Ferguson's left-wing cross and they went ahead in the 47th minute through Gregory, who finished from 10 yards after Steve Morison and Jed Wallace combined.

Wallace fired over before Jordan Archer made a great save to deny Morsy in the 71st minute and he did even better to parry a Byron Harrison header in the 79th minute.
