Leaders stay at the top

Chesterfield maintained their lead at the top of League Two despite Hartlepool fighting back to take a share of the points, the 1-1 scoreline being their fourth successive league draw.

The Spireites went ahead on the half-hour when Marc Richards crossed from the left and Tendayi Darikwa, coming in from the right, smashed a right-foot volley into the far corner of the Hartlepool net.

The visitors were level three minutes into the second half when substitute James Poole was brought down by Sam Hird as he chased a long ball into the Chesterfield box and Matty Dolan tucked the penalty kick under Lee's dive into the corner of the net.

Banks and Richards both put chances over the bar before Pools keeper Scott Flinders messed up his clearance and was grateful to see Christian Burgess block Gnanduillet's goal-bound follow-up.

Hartlepool were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when Andy Monkhouse, booked earlier for diving, picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Drew Talbot but they held on for the draw.
