Boss bemused by wasteful Spireites

The visitors had the ball in the net in Saturday's League Two clash at the Don Valley Stadium, only for the strike to be ruled offside and Jack Lester, Lewis Montrose and Martin Gritton all went close before the Millers opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time.

"The most important was Martin Gritton's miss when he looked odds on to score and then the disallowed goal, which I want to see again," said Richardson.

"To go in at half-time 1-0 down was a bit of a travesty because it was Rotherham's first half-decent attack that ended in the back of our net.

"We knew the second goal would be a crucial goal. We just switched off a little bit and Reuben Reid got in behind us and had a relatively simple task to score, and once we went two down followed by the sending off our task was impossible."
