Blues boss pleased to snatch a point

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan admitted his side were fortunate to draw at Port Vale. The Spireites were on the backfoot for much of the encounter. They fell behind to Marc Richards` 12th-minute goal but Dwayne Mattis rescued a point 11 minutes from time.Sheridan conceded his team would not have deserved a victory had their late flurry paid off with a winner."Port Vale were the better team and had the better chances, so we have to accept they dominated most of the game," said Sheridan. "I'm pleased to take a point. This is a tough place to come and their front two (Marc Richards and Justin Richards) were a right handful."We made the mistake of allowing Vale to put too many balls into our box and we struggled to contain their forwards. But we did improve after matching them up 4-4-2 in the second half. The players responded and we had the best chance to win it at the end, although that would have been unfair."I did think some of our players looked tired on the big pitch and that's something I've got to look at. We've got a few players who are well into their 30s and I've got some food for thought. I'm confident we will be a handful for anyone at home, but I might have to change the team when we play away."
