Misses annoy Chester boss

20 Nov 2007 - 10:15:17

Chester City manager Bobby Williamson bemoaned a series of missed chances as his side slipped to a 2-0 defeat to table-topping Milton Keynes Dons.

Simon Yeo had a penalty saved by Dons keeper Willie Gueret while John Murphy and Kevin Ellison wasted great opportunities to bring City back into the game.

Williamson said: "We dominated in the second half and created good chances, but on the day we couldn't put them away.

"If you don't take your chances you're not going to win and that's what happened.

"The shots we hit, we hit at their keeper and we made it look easy for him really, and that was disappointing.

"Big John Murphy had a great opportunity to score but he mis-hit it slightly when he should have put it in the back of the net.

"Their goalkeeper also made a great save from Kevin Ellison, and saved a penalty. You never know how the game would have panned out if we'd got a goal back - maybe we could have upped our game again and gone in front.

"If we'd scored a goal we could have started asking questions, but we never managed to make that possible and it was disappointing to see the game just peter out the way it did."
