Chester City defender Paul Linwood believes a lack of experience has cost the club dearly this season.
City are still in danger of being relegated after losing 1-0 to Wycombe at the weekend - a result that extended their dismal run since Christmas to 18 defeats in 23 matches.
Linwood said: "The lads were absolutely devastated after getting beaten at Wycombe on Saturday.
"We've got a young team on paper and everyone worked so hard, so nobody could believe it was the same old story again.
"Scott McGleish has been scoring goals for years and he spun off one of our lads to score again. He showed why he's scored 20-odd goals this season for Wycombe.
"I feel we're just missing a player like Scott McGleish, or a player like Jamie Forrester - just an experienced head that can help us out and maybe knock a few goals in."
