    Ellison sets record straight

    29 Feb 2008 - 07:03:07

Chester City forward Kevin Ellison insists he never wanted to leave the club and is determined to stay and secure a regular first-team place.

The 28-year-old seemed to be on the verge of leaving City last month when he reportedly agreed to move to Stockport only for the switch to eventually break down.

Ellison, who was also linked with a move to Wrexham, insists: "I honestly didn't want to leave Chester. The gaffer pulled me into his office before the Rochdale game and told me there had been a few offers, but I told him that I didn't really want to go.

"Then I got sent off in the Rochdale game and there's been a bit of uncertainty over the last couple of weeks.

"I didn't know whether I was coming or going, but at the end of the day I didn't want to go and now I'm just glad to be back playing for Chester.

"You can't blame the fans for any of my problems. I don't think they liked me being sent off against Rochdale or the idea of me being linked with a move to Wrexham.

"But as long as I put a Chester shirt on I'm playing here. I didn't want to go. It was just good to be back in the team against Mansfield and to score two goals."
