Chester City manager Simon Davies has released seven players following the club's flirtation with relegation to the Blue Square Premier in the season just ended.
Phil Palethorpe, Simon Marples, Sean Hessey, Dean Bennett, Tony Grant, Adam Walker and Simon Yeo have all been told their futures lie elsewhere.
However, Davies has offered defender Kevin Sandwith and striker Chris Holroyd new deals.
Meanwhile, club owner, Stephen Vaughan, insists Davies is the right man to revive the club's fortunes.
He said: "We now have the man for the job at Chester and I'm sure we'll have a much better season.
"We have to make sure that we improve on last season's position, because we were very close to being relegated."
