Manager Simon Davies praised the hard work on display as Chester City secured their League Two status with a goalless draw against Stockport County on Tuesday evening.
The point secured Chester's safety and condemned fellow strugglers Mansfield Town to the drop.
"We worked ever so hard and there were some fabulous performances from some of our players, especially (goalkeeper) John Danby," said Davies.
"We've also had the rub of the green that has been missing in recent matches.
"We dug in and that's what it takes to get out of a situation like this.
"With three of four additions, we can push on next season."
