Chester City have held talks with Doncaster Rovers striker Gregg Blundell but a deal for the former Northwich Victoria player is still to be finalised.
The two clubs are believed to have agreed terms last month but the deal has stalled because of the player's wage demands.
"I'm hoping there is some give and take from all sides," admitted Chester boss Keith Curle.
Meanwhile, former Mansfield Town defender Luke Dimech and ex-Cambridge United midfielder Abdou El Kholti continue to be linked with moves to the Deva Stadium.
