    City's Ellison bid fails

    25 May 2007 - 16:30:02

Chester City boss Bobby Williamson has failed with a bid to lure Tranmere Rovers winger Kevin Ellison to the Saunders Honda Stadium.

A brief statement on the League One side's official website read: "The offer was unacceptable and has been turned down."

The Liverpool-born 28-year-old scored 11 goals in 30 appearances for City in the first half of the 2004-05 campaign, before moving to Hull City in a £100,000 deal.

Ellison still has 12 months left on his Prenton Park contract, while Williamson has also been linked with a move for Rovers' out-of-contract goalkeeper John Achterberg.
