Chester City are keen to keep Simon Yeo after rejecting a bid from Bury for the experienced striker.
The Shakers made a bid for the 33-year-old former Lincoln City forward on Tuesday night, but City chairman Stephen Vaughan was quick to reject the approach.
"Bobby Williamson sees Simon as an integral member of his squad and the player is happy at Chester so we have firmly but politely rejected Bury's approach," Vaughan told the Evening Leader.
"Simon's a natural goalscorer, which he proved on Tuesday against Telford United when he registered a fine hat-trick.
"Strikers of Simon's quality are very few and far between, and we've never even contemplated transferring him."
Yeo has scored four goals in 15 appearances for Chester since joining the club from Peterborough United in January.
