City enter administration

Chester City will start their 2009-10 Blue Square Premier League campaign with minus ten points after deciding to enter administration.

The club, whose relegation from League Two was confirmed earlier this month, have been considering going into administration for the last fortnight.

Earlier in the week owner Stephen Vaughan told the Chester Chronicle: "We'll be making the decision over the next couple of days whether to put the club into administration to safeguard its future.

"We've only seven contracted players at the moment and we've got the club by the scruff of the neck now.

"We're also taking stock of the finances and of the losses we've suffered over the last eight years."
