Chester City pair Paul Butler and Tony Dinning have been told they will not play for the club again this season after an alleged "serious breach of discipline".
Manager Simon Davies has also confirmed that the pair also do not figure in his plans for next season.
"Both Paul and Tony have been suspended by the club after a breach of club discipline," he said.
"I would rather not elaborate on the matter, but I intend to speak to both players at the end of the season.
"I know the news will come as a bit of a shock to our fans because Paul and Tony are two of our most experienced players, but we all have opinions."
Meanwhile, Chester have confirmed that they plan to report Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle to the Football Association for allegedly making an illegal approach to two unnamed but under contract players.
