Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan has warned the club's new manager that he will be expected to win promotion from League Two next season.
Vaughan sacked former boss Mark Wright last week after revealing his disappointment at their 18th-placed finish this season and the City supremo is looking for a dramatic improvement next term.
"There's been a lot of interest but we've got to make the right decision," he revealed.
"We've had three horrendous seasons since we came back in the league - 22nd, 15th and 18th - and each year we've invested to be in the play-offs.
"We're going to get someone who is capable of making that a reality this year.
"There's a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks."
