Blundell staying at Chester

Chester City have rejected an approach from League Two rivals Darlington for striker Gregg Blundell.

The 31-year-old was wanted by Quakers boss Dave Penney, who brought Blundell to Doncaster Rovers from Northwich when he was manager at Belle Vue in 2003.

Blundell has netted eight times for Chester this season, but chairman Stephen Vaughan insists he is staying at the Saunders Honda Stadium.

"There will be player movements over the next week or so, but Gregg won't be one of them," Vaughan told the club's official website.

"We want him to stay and be an integral part of our promotion push and as such we will thank Darlington for their interest but reject their offer.

"As I have said many times before, we are building a squad that can push for promotion at Chester City. We are not decimating it."
