Chester boss Keith Curle has confirmed Gregg Blundell did not sustain a fractured skull against Rochdale after X-ray results allayed fears.
The City striker was rushed to hospital after being on the wrong end of a reckless challenge by Dale goalkeeper Matthew Gilks last Friday.
Curle said: "Gregg has been back in for another X-ray to check if there was any sign of a fracture, but that has been cleared and he is making a good recovery.
"He doesn't remember anything of the game yet. I have told him he missed three open goals and a penalty, but he doesn't believe me."
