Artell opens City talks

Chester City defender David Artell is keen to sign a new contract with the club when his current deal expires at the end of this season.

The 26-year-old has made 84 appearances for City since his transfer from Mansfield Town at the start of last term.

"I've spoken to the gaffer and nothing concrete has come about but we're in dialogue," confirmed Artell.

"He's had his hands full trying to get players in and I've said to him that I'm not a top priority and I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

"Next year we've got to get the squad together and add to the four or five in the summer that arrived halfway through the season, kick on from there and have a successful season."
