Wigan Friendly Announced

Chester will welcome Premiership side Wigan Athletic to the Deva Stadium on Sunday 1st August for a prestigious pre-season friendly. The game against The Latics will kick off at 1.00pm.Chief Executive Steve Ashton said “On behalf of Chester FC I would like to thank Roberto Martinez and Graham Barrow for agreeing to this exciting pre-season fixture, we look forward to welcoming Wigan to the Deva”Chester Manager Neil Young also added “It’s an excellent opportunity to play against Premier League opposition, and will be a really good test for the players just prior to the start of the new season”.It will be a welcome return to Chester for both Roberto and Graham, who of course spent part of their playing careers at Chester, with Graham going on to lead the Blues to a successful promotion campaign in 1993-94, having succeeded former manager, the late Harry McNally, who also managed Wigan in the mid 1980’s. Chester have also confirm that they will face Bangor City at the Deva Stadium on Wednesday 28th July, with the kick off at 7.30pm.
