Chester City 0-0 Luton Town

05 December 2009 06:48
Ten-man Chester ended a run of five straight defeats as they held promotion chasers Luton Town to a drab goalless draw for the second time this season.Defender Kevin Roberts was sent off just before half-time, a straight red card for hauling down Luton striker Matt Barnes-Homer as he ran clear. [LNB]But, despite their man advantage, the Hatters failed to capitalise. [LNB]Luton had few chances, the best coming midway through the second half when Barnes-Homer's header rattled the bar. [LNB]But Jim Harvey's young side withheld the pressure to secure a well-deserved point for crisis club Chester. [LNB]Chester had survived the threat of being expelled from the league for non-payment of debts on Thursday. [LNB]And, following Tuesday's luckless last-minute defeat at Cambridge, a battling point completes a more encouraging few days for Chester. [LNB]But the Blue Square Premier's bottom club remain 24 points of safety. And they now face the loss of Roberts for three games, following the young defender's second sending-off against Luton in successive seasons. [LNB]Richard Money's Hatters climb a place to seventh, four points adrift of the play-off zone.
