    Wylde blow rocks Robins

    06 Aug 2007 - 08:43:39

Cheltenham Town defender Michael Wylde will be sidelined for around three months after suffering a sickening clash of heads with team-mate Shane Duff.

The 20-year-old needed hospital treatment and requires surgery for a double fracture of his lower jaw, having been injured during a 2-0 loss at Hereford United.

Robins physio Ian Weston told the club's official website: "Michael has a double displaced fracture of the lower jaw.

"He was kept in hospital overnight and then transferred for surgery to insert a wire and plate.

"The healing will take about ten weeks and it is not a process that we can speed up at all."

Town boss John Ward now faces a major defensive headache, with Duff suffering concussion, Michael Townsend damaging ankle ligaments in the same game and Gavin Caines already sidelined by a knee problem.
