Ward waits on Wilson

Cheltenham Town boss John Ward is hopeful that defender Brian Wilson will recover from injury early on in the new season.

The 22-year-old former Stoke City youngster is recovering from fracturing a bone in his arm and will miss the Robins' pre-season trip to Germany.

Ward told the Gloucestershire Echo: "Brian Wilson has been given a programme that he will work on. It's tough on him, but he's not in plaster.

"We hope that by the time he is cleared to play, he'll be able to go straight into football.

"At best, he will miss the first week, when there are three games, and at worst it will be a fortnight."
