Vincent opts for Robins stay

Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing has confirmed that Ashley Vincent has finally penned a new one-year deal with the club.

The 23-year-old had been offered a new contract earlier in the summer and, despite interesting several other clubs, has opted to stay at Whaddon Road.

"The offer to Ashley has been there all summer and I'm pleased that he's decided to stay," said Downing.

"The only real issue was that Ashley sees his future as a striker and it was up to him to decide whether he wanted to make a go of that with us."

Vincent has found the net seven times in 41 starts and 55 appearances from the substitutes bench since signing for the Robins four years ago.
