Cheltenham Town have been rocked by the news that Michael Townsend will miss the busy festive programme with an ear infection.
The defender is not expected to return to action until the new year because of the condition that means he cannot train properly.
"Michael saw the specialist again and he's given him the all-clear, although he's still suffering with symptoms," senior sports therapist Ian Weston told Town's official website.
"A blood test confirmed that he's had a virus so the conclusion is that it's some kind of post-viral syndrome.
"We've taken the decision to leave him out completely until the new year to give him time to recover fully."
