Town bring in Robins pair

Cheltenham Town have raided Bristol City to sign Alex Russell and Steve Brooker on loan.

The pair have been out in the cold since the Robins won promotion to the Championship at the end of last season.

Midfielder Russell has already spent three months on loan at Northampton Town this season, while striker Brooker has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery in the summer.

"Both players have signed for a month initially and I've worked closely with (City boss) Gary Johnson who has been tremendous for us," manager Keith Downing told the club's official website.

"Geographically it's a good move for the players as well and they are two who have already performed well at this level so I am looking forward to working with them."
