Cheltenham Town striker Damian Spencer has pledged his future to the Whaddon Road club by signing a new two-year contract.
The 25-year-old had been offered a three-year deal by the Robins, but has opted to sign up for the next two seasons.
Town boss John Ward told the Gloucestershire Echo: "I know exactly what I am going to get off Damian Spencer and I don't know why people would be surprised that we offered him a three-year deal.
"We are not a club that does major contracts in terms of length, but he is only 25 and I want to keep players that are reliable people.
"People can say what they like about Damian as a footballer, but what nobody can deny is that when he puts the shirt on he gives it everything he has got.
"I can't see why there is concern about the offer. I think people would have been more concerned if he had left."
