    Season over for Townsend

    19 Mar 2008 - 13:27:37

Cheltenham Town centre-half Michael Townsend has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he continues to struggle with labyrinthitis.

The 21-year-old has been restricted to just 14 appearances this season, having first suffered with dizziness and ear problems back in October last year.

Townsend told the Gloucestershire Echo: "The illness has been there since the Crewe game and it's never really gone away.

"I tried to get through a couple of games to see how it reacted and it hasn't worn off as I hoped it would.

"I have been ruled out for the rest of the season and I can try and get it sorted out over the summer.

"It could all be linked to my neck. I fell on my collar bone in the match at Northampton and I have had a sore neck since then, so there may be a connection with my ears and it might be nerve-related."
