Schofield: Changes needed

Cheltenham Town acting manager John Schofield has suggested there will be sweeping changes at the Whaddon Road-based outfit if he becomes permanent manager of the League Two strugglers.

With contracted boss Martin Allen on gardening leave since October 20, the Robins continue to languish and with just four league wins to date, they occupy a lowly 20th place position.

Having previously managed Lincoln City, Schofield wants to be able to stamp his mark in the January transfer window, if the club's board of directors will allow him to.

Speaking to thisisgloucestershire.co.uk, he said: "The board have backed me with loan signings, but are there things I might do differently if I was in charge? Of course there are.

"I am being judged anyway, whether I am fully in charge or not, so I have to get on with it as best I can.

"But there are things I can't do until I am named full-time manager."
