Robins ponder Guinan appeal
22 Nov 2006 - 12:10:50
Cheltenham Town are considering an appeal against striker Steve Guinan's red card in the 2-0 FA Cup first round replay defeat at Scunthorpe United.
Guinan was dismissed ten minutes from time at Glanford Park for a late challenge of home skipper Andy Crosby, but Robins number two Keith Downing was less than impressed by the decision.
He said: "I didn't think it was a sending-off at first look, but I've spoken to the referee and he said it was a late and dangerous lunge from a distance.
"I think he caught the player, but we had a similar incident at Chesterfield over the weekend on Brian Wilson and it's how the officials see it.
"I thought it was no more than a yellow card. We'll have a look at the video and if we can appeal, we will do."
