Cheltenham Town boss John Ward has expressed his surprise at media reports that claimed he turned down several deadline day offers for striker Kayode Odejayi.
The 23-year-old, who has already netted nine goals this term, captured the headlines by tormenting France centre-back Jean-Alain Boumsong during the Robins' FA Cup defeat against Newcastle United last weekend.
That led to stories linking Odejayi with several Championship clubs, but Ward insisted he was not contacted by any interested managers.
"It's not true in the slightest. We didn't receive any bids from Championship clubs for Kayode," he said.
"My cynical suggestion is that the reports that have popped up would not have appeared had we not played Newcastle.
"Kayode enjoys his football here and we're glad he's with us to help us maintain our push for promotion this season."
