New setback for Gillespie
29 Aug 2006 - 08:53:05
Cheltenham Town forward Steven Gillespie is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury during Saturday's 3-2 win against Millwall.
The injury-prone 22-year-old entered the fray from the bench just after hour mark, but limped off within 15 minutes and left the ground on crutches.
Robins boss John Ward told the Western Daily Press: "It's a kick on the calf which we have seen on the video. Hopefully it is not a pull or a strain, but we just can't get the young man going at the moment.
"It's frustrating. He's exciting and the crowd love him and I like him and he's a good player to have around, but we just need to get him fit."
David Bird, Michael Townsend, Shane Duff and Damian Spencer have already been ruled out of next weekend's trip to Carlisle United because of fitness problems, while Grant McCann will be away on international duty.
